Keeping in touch from Scotland
After doing all the touristy things in London, we moved onto the touristy things in England. So, stonehenge was first.
After Ireland, I travelled to London where I met my parents! (no, it wasn’t a coincidence). We tripped around during the day, seeing all the sights and sounds along the way (sounds a little bit like Dr Suess, doesn’t it?) Mum and I at the Tower Bridge
On my exeat, I managed to score a ticket to the Six Nations Calcutta Cup match between England and Scotland for 10 pounds! So I walked to the stadium that arvo, not knowing who I was sitting next to, but still in a state of shock that I got a ticket to the biggest rugby match of the year, […]
This weekend, I truly lived the life of a gappy… 100% unplanned and completely spontaneous. It was our exeat this weekend. It’s a three day weekend when we get leave from school to go and have a holiday. So i went into edinburgh with no plans of what i would do. It turns out, a gappy i knew […]
The rugby union lads had their tounrament next – the legendary Oundle Sevens. Ardvreck has traditionally done very well and it seemed as if they’d be highly competitive again this year – except it was called off. The English weather was as its finest (sarcasm). However, another school close by said that they’d hold a […]
While we were in Oundle for the rugby tournament, we had a tour of the school. It’s amazing. It’s over 450 years old (so Captain Cook’s grandfather probably could’ve gone there)! The school is massive, and in the middle of the town. Every school building is old and glorious.
The 7-a-side, national U13 hockey tournament was held the next day. At the tournament were the best hockey teams in the UK. There were only two scottish teams there, and we were one of them. I was one of the umpires! I umpired hockey at the national level! The standard was pretty damn good. The boys did […]
I went away on tour with the rugby and hockey sides this week. We had to leave Ardvreck at about 6:00 am, and caught a bus to edinburgh airport for a flight down to Bristol (British geography anyone?). We arrived in Bristol, and went for a tour around Millfield prep and senior school. They were […]
I’VE POSTED THIS ONE AGAIN. THE VIDEO WASN’T WORKING BEFORE, BUT SHOULD BE FINE NOW! IF NOT, GO TO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_2K_U8MmgM One night after skiing, we went down to the local supermarket and bought these little plastic clams. They’re these small plastic trays that little germans slide down the hill on. So, naturally, we bought some! […]
Two weeks ago, there was a seven-a-side hockey tournament for the under 13 boys (my team). We took them away, and they ended up winning! So now, they will be travelling to Somerset to compete at the national tournament! So I get a free trip away to England! Woo hoo! Even better, there is also a […]
