On my exeat, I managed to score a ticket to the Six Nations Calcutta Cup match between England and Scotland for 10 pounds! So I walked to the stadium that arvo, not knowing who I was sitting next to, but still in a state of shock that I got a ticket to the biggest rugby match of the year, that had sold out weeks ago, for only ten pounds!
In our part of the stadium, I spotted a few other aussie gappies who had made the pilgrimage to Murrayfield to watch the game. So we all got together and went nuts!
We must have been the most vocal and patriotic scotsmen in the entire stadium – and we aren’t even scottish! Everyone sings; they just need to be lead – that was our job. We started about 10 mexican waves, a whole heap of scottish songs that we don’t actually know the words to but know the tune:
“O flower o’ Sco’land…”
“Yoo take tha high rood, un i’ll take that low road, an i’ll be in Sco’land befur yoo!”
